AOD-9604 Research Guide: The hGH Fragment
By the APL Research Team · Updated
AOD-9604 is a synthetic fragment of human growth hormone — residues 176-191 of the C-terminus, with a tyrosine added for stability. The design intent, pursued by Australian researchers at Monash University in the 1990s, was to isolate one region of hGH's activity from the rest.
The fragment hypothesis
Full hGH touches growth, IGF-1 signalling and glucose handling. The 176-191 region was identified in models as the segment associated with lipolytic signalling, and AOD-9604's published record centres on lipid-metabolism studies without the growth-axis effects of the parent hormone.
An Australian research story
AOD-9604 is one of the few research peptides with genuinely Australian scientific origins — a nice piece of history for a compound now studied worldwide in metabolic models.
Handling and sourcing
Standard lyophilised protocol. Supplied in 5mg vials, ≥99% HPLC-verified with batch COA, dispatched express from within Australia.
