BPC-157: the stable gastric pentadecapeptide
BPC-157 is a 15-amino-acid fragment derived from a protective protein found in gastric juice. In published animal models it has been associated with angiogenesis modulation, fibroblast recruitment and effects on the nitric-oxide pathway. Its notable property is stability — it survives conditions that degrade most peptides, which is one reason it became such a widely used research tool.
TB-500: the actin regulator
TB-500 is the synthetic version of thymosin beta-4's active fragment, a molecule present in nearly all mammalian cells. Its research profile centres on actin — the structural protein that lets cells move. By regulating actin polymerisation, thymosin beta-4 is associated in the literature with cell migration, which is fundamental to how tissue-repair models progress.
Why the combination interests researchers
One compound is studied for signalling around blood-vessel formation; the other for the cellular machinery of migration. In repair models these are sequential phases of the same process, which makes the pair a natural combination study.
