CJC-1295 vs Ipamorelin vs Tesamorelin: Choosing a GH-Axis Research Compound
By the APL Research Team ยท Updated
Growth-hormone-axis research works with two different levers: compounds that mimic GHRH (the hypothalamic releasing hormone) and compounds that mimic ghrelin (the stomach-derived secretagogue). The three most-studied research peptides in this space pull one lever each โ and one famous combination pulls both.
CJC-1295 (No DAC): the GHRH analogue
CJC-1295 without DAC โ also called Mod GRF 1-29 โ is a modified fragment of GHRH with substitutions that resist enzymatic breakdown. In the literature it is associated with pulsatile GH-axis signalling that follows natural rhythm patterns, which is why it became the reference GHRH tool in receptor studies.
Ipamorelin: the selective ghrelin mimetic
Ipamorelin binds the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R), a completely different receptor from GHRH's. Its research reputation rests on selectivity โ early secretagogues like GHRP-6 co-stimulate cortisol and prolactin pathways in models, while ipamorelin's published profile is notably cleaner. For signalling studies where you want one variable moving, selectivity is everything.
Why researchers combine them
Because the two act on different receptors, models combining a GHRH analogue with a ghrelin mimetic show synergistic rather than additive signalling โ the classic two-key system. This is why our CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin blend vial exists: same-vial dosing keeps molar ratios consistent across a study.
Tesamorelin: the stabilised heavyweight
Tesamorelin is a full-length GHRH analogue with a trans-3-hexenoic acid modification, and it is unique in this trio for having completed full clinical development (as Egrifta, for a specific indication). For researchers this means an unusually deep published dataset. It is the most-documented GHRH analogue available as a research reagent.
Choosing between them
Studying GHRH-receptor signalling in isolation: CJC-1295. Ghrelin-receptor work: Ipamorelin. Dual-pathway synergy models: the blend. Maximum literature support: Tesamorelin. All four ship HPLC-verified with batch documentation available on request from our Australian facility.
Volume buyers and peptide businesses can source wholesale stock, tested in Australia, through our trade and white-label program.
All compounds discussed are for in-vitro laboratory research only and are not for human or veterinary use.
