GHRP-2 vs GHRP-6: The First-Generation Secretagogues
By the APL Research Team · Updated
Before ipamorelin, there were the GHRPs. These hexapeptides were the compounds that proved the ghrelin receptor could be drugged — years before ghrelin itself was even discovered.
Shared heritage
Both are synthetic hexapeptide agonists of GHS-R1a, developed in the Bowers laboratory lineage. Historically remarkable: they were reverse-engineered from opioid-derived structures by function alone, and the receptor they revealed was only identified afterwards.
The differences
GHRP-6's model profile includes pronounced ghrelin-like appetite signalling and moderate cortisol/prolactin co-activation. GHRP-2 is the more potent GH-axis stimulator with somewhat less appetite signalling. Neither is selective by modern standards — which is precisely their research value as comparison anchors against clean modern tools like ipamorelin.
Research use today
Receptor-pharmacology courses in miniature: run GHRP-6, GHRP-2 and ipamorelin side by side and you can watch selectivity being engineered across three generations. Standard lyophilised handling for both.
If you run a peptide business, or are building one, we wholesale Australian-sourced stock to trade buyers across Australia.
