How to Spot a Fake Peptide Supplier in Australia: 7 Red Flags

The uncomfortable truth about the research peptide market: independent testing programs routinely find products that are underdosed, contaminated, or contain a different compound entirely. For a researcher, bad material doesn't just waste money — it invalidates months of work. Here are the seven checks we recommend before buying from any supplier, including us.

1. No Certificate of Analysis, no purchase

A legitimate supplier provides a batch-specific COA showing HPLC purity and mass-spectrometry identity data. Stock photos of generic certificates, COAs with no batch number, or 'available on request' that never materialises are all red flags. The COA should match the batch number printed on your vial.

2. Purity claims without a method

'99% pure' means nothing without the analytical method behind it. HPLC is the standard. If a supplier can't tell you how their purity figure was measured — or by whom — the number is marketing copy.

3. Prices that are too good

Peptide synthesis has real costs that scale with sequence length and purity. If a supplier sells a long-sequence peptide for a third of the market rate, the savings come from somewhere: underfilled vials, lower purity, or substitution with a cheaper compound.

4. No Australian presence

Overseas drop-shippers advertise to Australian customers, then ship internationally — meaning weeks in uncontrolled temperatures and the risk of customs seizure. A domestic supplier dispatching from within Australia removes both problems. Check for an Australian business registration and domestic express shipping.

5. Medical claims and dosing advice

Research peptides are laboratory reagents. A supplier publishing human dosing protocols or before-and-after photos is not running a research supply business, and regulators eventually catch up with them — potentially taking your order history along for the ride.

6. No batch traceability

Ask: if there were a problem with a batch, could the supplier trace which orders contained it? Vials without batch codes make that impossible.

7. Anonymous operations

No contact page, no returns policy, payment only by cryptocurrency or bank transfer — each of these removes a layer of accountability. Card payments through a regulated processor like Stripe exist precisely so buyers have recourse.
