Snap-8 and the Cosmetic Neuropeptide Family
By the APL Research Team · Updated
Cosmetic science's most inventive peptide family borrows its mechanism from neuroscience. Snap-8 is an octapeptide fragment mimicking the N-terminus of SNAP-25 — one of the SNARE proteins that dock neurotransmitter vesicles.
The mechanism
In-vitro work associates Snap-8 (and its shorter sibling argireline/acetyl hexapeptide-8) with competitive interference in SNARE-complex assembly — the same protein machinery botulinum toxin destroys enzymatically, approached instead through gentle competition. Model systems show reduced vesicle-docking efficiency.
Research applications
Cell-culture neurotransmission models, SNARE-assembly assays and topical-penetration studies. It sits in our cosmetic-research corner alongside GHK-Cu and the dermal-matrix compounds our collagen article maps.
Handling
A robust octapeptide; standard lyophilised protocol. Verified with batch COAs like everything we ship.
For laboratories and peptide businesses buying at volume, wholesale trade packs — sourced and tested in Australia — are available through our wholesale and white-label page.
All compounds discussed are for in-vitro laboratory research only and are not for human or veterinary use.
